Assemblyman Robert D. Barra resides in North Lynbrook and was elected to serve the 14th Assembly District in the fall of 2000. Assemblyman Barra previously served as a councilman in the Town of Hempstead and was one of seven public officials in charge of the largest township in the US. While a member of the Hempstead Town Board, he also served as district chief of staff to New York State Senator Dean Skelos, where his duties included managing the Senator’s district office and acting as a liaison with various governmental agencies and elected officials.  In Albany, he serves as Ranking Republican on the Assembly Racing and Wagering Committee.
